SaitoHajime101's Aizu Manga Review

Aizu

Rated: 6

Through the 15-volume series, we come to understand what a person may wind up doing for the sake of reaching a dream. For me, I almost take away from the series the inspiration to want to further my education to reach a financial plateau that I know I may not get to until I'm 80-years old in my real line of work. For Seto, his dream was to overcome his personal doubts and personality short-comings to reach the woman he has only dared to look at from afar. Through each volume of the series we are consistently bombarded with failure, then success in an almost rhythmic manner. However through this pacing we are at least rewarded with achievements even though we are only the bystanders to this journey.

SaitoHajime101's Kimi ni Todoke Tv Review

Kimi ni Todoke

Rated: 8

Oh the dramatics, let it end! Well, thank god I didn't feel that way. While some of it did indeed get somewhat overplayed at times, it's what this series was built around. The good thing though is they didn't make it a bad habit. While slice-of-life series are notorious for "mis-understandings", this series didn't play off of those and played more off the reality that really happens. Despite the naivety of Kuronuma, she has surprisingly fewer misunderstandings than characters like Naru Narusegawa from Love Hina. That's probably what makes this series better than the rest, for me.

Specifically on humor, you'll find enough of it. It isn't quite the slapstick humor but nor is it always so subtle.

SaitoHajime101's Blue Gender Tv Review

Rated: 5

Blue Gender was 26 episodes of nothing but mess. I won't say the concept itself was bad, because it wasn't. The concept that Earth itself was cleansing itself of "a cancer" was a pretty good idea (not going to spoil much by explaining it), but it was applied to poorly written characters with one track minds. However I do say Yuji and Marlene had two tracks but they're extremes of each other. Yuji goes from cry baby to cold blooded psycho while Marlene does the opposite, going from cold blooded to cry baby. Why make two characters identical to each other but yet on the opposite of one another. True opposites attract but in this case it's like the North and South Pole trying to connect but fail in doing so.

SaitoHajime101's True Tears Tv Review

True Tears

Rated: 7

A 13-episode series that was just the right length. It has been argued that the series actually ends at the 11th episode with episode 12 and 13 kinda of dragging the series on but I have to disagree. While certain parts of the plot may have gotten solved, other major parts still needed to be brought to a logical conclusion which is why episode 12 and 13 were necessary. They made sure to tightly wrap this story up with no room for a second season or OVA. In my opinion, that's a good move. Too much lately have we been getting series that go on for 2 seasons or more, or series that just don't know when to call it quits. I'd rather have a series that ends prematurely than a series that drags out for several seasons that just make no sense.

SaitoHajime101's Summer Wars Ova Review

Rated: 8

I have to say I think this film went by too quick. Thats definitely not a bad thing for me. If this movie dragged and felt like Lord of the Rings, then I would say this film was horrible in presentation but it wasn't. It maintained a quicken pace throughout majority of the film, aside from when you reached that "intermission" point. Its an obvious point because it happens after a major climatic point and ends right before some rising action at another point. Thats probably the slowest it got, but even then you were being pumped full of information regarding certain events that some of you may not even notice. I took that time myself to pause and take care of some things before I went back at it.

SaitoHajime101's Ranma 1/2 Tv And Manga Review

Ranma 1/2

Rated: 4

Sigh, I think I finally got through most of my raging about this series, but who knows, it might come back when I speak what I have to say here.

First off being 7 seasons long, one would expect constant episodes in every series that bring us back to the main story so we don't forget but alas this series stops doing that by season 5. Its just the first part of all my raging. A very episodic series that teeters on the line between ridiculous and stupid. I'm one to always watch every episode no matter what happens, but I will freely admit here, this series, for the first time in my anime watching career, I broke that tradition of mine. I ended up skipping a couple episodes here and there after the 3rd season because the previews for them were total crap.

SaitoHajime101's Toradora! Tv Review

Toradora!

Rated: 7

This series was slated as a 25-episode series, but I guess they wanted to maintain the 26-episode length that the anime world is notoriously known for, so they threw in a special as the 26th episode. Its obviously not an episode needing to be watched in regards to the main story so no need to bend over backwards to see it. Any how, theres alot of good things to say about the series but for a change of pace, I'mma head straight into the bad first.

Fact is there's nothing really standout-ish about this series aside from some pretty well written characters. Now some would say thats a good thing and why others would list this series as "perfect", but thats not correct. For a perfect series everything would stand out and make for a long discussion about each part.

SaitoHajime101's Chrono Cross Game Review

Rated: 6

An average length RPG that falls short of a great. Its has alot of high points, but the low points are what is killing its rating. Some of you may think I'm being hard on parts (the graphics in particular) being the age of the game. I'm saying this now to assure you that I'm not. I started gaming years before the PSOne was released and seeing the change in graphics over the years and consoles gave me my sense of respect for the old school. Graphics is not what makes a game. All elements I'm covering here in this review and then some, is what makes a game.

It seems this game was a properly well thought out game but with the lack of any real eye candy, the average gamer would easily overlook it.

SaitoHajime101's Ah! Megami-sama Tv And Ova Review

Ah! Megami-sama

Rated: 6

Ah, finally on to the final section. I'm sure some of you are wondering why I've rated the series as such thus far (example the music section when that was a high point). The reason for this is because they're combined scores for both the OVA and series. Since I can't quite submit seperated overall scores, I had to combine and average approximately where the mean of the scores would be. For instance in the art, I probably would've gave the OVA a 7 while the series would've gotten a 5. Average those out you'll get about a 6 (excluding decimals).

Anyhow past the math lesson, I'm for the OVA. In the battle between OVA and Series, OVA wins. For me its hard to get into series that is an off and on type with the stories. Meaning that some episodes connect and some don't.

SaitoHajime101's To Aru Majutsu no Index Tv Review

To Aru Majutsu no Index

Rated: 5

Wow, 24 episodes and they couldn't keep it at one continous story. Whats with new anime these days in either being in "mini-arc" or "episodic" formats. Now I mentioned "Mini-arc" at the beginning and I said I would elaborate. Well to me any plot-line or story within the main story that lasts 3 episodes or more is (by my personal opinion and definition) a "mini-arc". Let me say there's quite a number of them in this series. When you look back at the Clannad anime (for those who have seen it), it was the same. However Clannad had a true purpose for it that helped enhance its underlying concepts while here all these mini-arcs were suppose to increase your attachments to the characters. It failed.
